This festival highlights the unique traditions of the Hutsuls – an ethno-cultural group of the Ukrainian Carpathians. Festival programs revolve around Arkan (circle) dances, kolomyikas and carol-like polyphonic songs, as well as reenactments of Hutsul wedding customs. It serves to maintain regional identity within modern Ukraine.
Visitors should wear modest attire and brightly-colored traditional garb if joining dances. Respect the ceremonial aspects (no shouting over dancers) and request permission before filming participants.
Attendance can be appropriate while active documentation is not. Let local boundaries define your role.
