Each year between Christmas and New Year, the city of Suceava fills with masked dancers for a festival of Bukovina's winter customs. More than thirty groups parade in elaborate bear, goat, and other costumes, bringing blessings for the new year, in a vivid celebration of the deep midwinter traditions of this Romanian region.
