Each spring, the city of Málaga gives itself over to Holy Week, its grandest celebration of the year. Huge, richly decorated thrones bearing sacred images are carried through the streets by hundreds of bearers, in processions of music, incense, and emotion organized by the city's historic brotherhoods.
