The Gorals are an ethnographic group in the Carpathians with distinct dialects, dress and customs. A rich historical blend of Slovak, Polish and Rusyn influences, Goral culture has been officially recognized as a minority. The festival preserves Goral heritage (music, dance, craftsmanship) and reflects local pride in their mountainous identity.
