Each summer, high in the Bachledka mountains, the village of Ždiar gathers for its Goral folklore festival at some 1,200 meters. Traditional Goral song and dance share the stage with newer performances against a backdrop of Carpathian peaks, in a celebration that keeps the proud highland heritage of the Gorals alive.

The story behind it
