Gjirokastër Carnival

Karnavalet e Gjirokastrës

Gjirokastër, Albania

Mar 13 - 15, 2026Expected

Each spring, the historic quarter of Gjirokastër fills with costumed revelers for its revived carnival. Masked processions, music, and street parties mark the days before Lent, in a celebration that brings back to life an old pre-Lenten tradition once common across southern Albania.

Media proof note

The Gjirokastër Carnival record is date-tracked, but stronger reviewed Field Guide media would make it easier to inspect.
