Giostra di Zante is Zakynthos's annual historical equestrian festival reviving a Venetian-era jousting tradition first documented on the island from the 1600s. Held over the Pentecost (Αγίου Πνεύματος) long weekend in Zakynthos Town, it features a grand parade of medieval-costumed participants through the city centre, music ensembles, a Children's Giostra parade and competition on Saturday, and the main mounted ring-jousting contest in Dionysios Solomos Square on Sunday, culminating in fireworks. The event is co-organized by the non-profit association 'Giostra di Zante' and the Culture Department of the Municipality of Zakynthos.
