Floats covered entirely in fresh blooms roll through Rijnsburg, Katwijk, and Noordwijk, in a fragrant post-war tradition that celebrates the horticultural pride of this flower-growing corner of Holland.
This parade reflects the local culture and horticultural heritage of the Bollenstreek (Bulb Region). Originating in 1946 as a post-WWII morale booster, it celebrates community craftsmanship and the region’s floral industry. Entire neighborhoods participate in the months-long float-building, linking to a deep tradition of blossom festivals in the Netherlands. The procession is a beloved local celebration of Dutch floriculture, creativity, and volunteerism.
This is a local community event led by volunteers, so visitors should be respectful of performers, floats and noise levels. Do not touch or climb on the floats or interfere with performers.
Attendance can be appropriate while active documentation is not. Let local boundaries define your role.
