Firefighters' Dyngus Day in Kazimierz Dolny

Strażacki Śmigus Dyngus w Kazimierzu Dolnym

Each Easter Monday, the volunteer firefighters of Kazimierz Dolny drive their trucks into the town square and hose down the cheering crowd. This boisterous twist on the old Śmigus-Dyngus wet-Monday custom has delighted the town for decades, in a soaking celebration of an ancient Slavic Easter tradition of pouring water for luck.

The crowd gathers on the town square at midday. Suddenly fire trucks drive in and unleash water jets, drenching many onlookers.
