Key moments

Mass Folk 'Horo' Dance

All performers and audience join a large open-air circle dance on the square. Even with rain (a noted tradition in 2025), people dance together to live folk music. For visitors, this is a deeply authentic cultural moment – the line between performer and spectator blurs as everyone moves in unison, embodying folklore as a communal heritage.

Opening Gala Concert

In a grand show called 'Po stupkite na otdanostta,' festival-goers see 12 major dance troupes perform a curated sequence of folk dances. This sets the tone for the festival, displaying the diversity of Bulgarian dances (and sometimes world dances). Attendees witness high-level choreography and traditional attire under professional lighting, honoring the passion ('otdanost') of the dance masters.
