Isnello’s hinterland has a long tradition of using wild herbs and vegetables in the diet. The festival underscores this identity by bringing together elders, farmers and students to showcase how local plants (the so-called verdure selvatiche delle Madonie) have shaped the cuisine and culture of the mountain communities. It emerged as a way to preserve fading rural knowledge and promote sustainable local agriculture.
