Nestled in the Alto Tajo Natural Park, Taravilla was historically linked to forestry and river transport of timber. The ganchero practice is central to the cultural landscape of this Serranía de Guadalajara area, where river wood transport shaped livelihoods for centuries. The festival revives these traditions, reflecting the community’s connection to the Tagus River and mountain forests.
