Each midsummer, the Canary town of Agaete fills with dancers waving green tree branches for the Fiesta de la Rama. Once an indigenous Guanche rite to call down rain, today thousands dance to the waterfront shrine to make offerings to the Virgin of Las Nieves, in a vibrant celebration where ancient and Christian traditions meet.
