Each spring, the town of Floriana honors Malta's first bishop, Saint Publius, with its parish festa. A solemn pontifical Mass at the Church of St. Publius gives way to a procession and village pageantry, in a celebration of the bishop who welcomed St. Paul to the island's shores.
