Epiphany (Vodici) Vardar River Cross-Throwing (Skopje)

Each January 19, the people of Skopje gather on the banks of the Vardar for the Epiphany blessing of the waters. After the liturgy, a priest throws a blessed cross from the Freedom Bridge into the cold river, and young men dive in after it, in a custom shared across North Macedonia.
