This waterfront Vodici ritual highlights Ohrid’s combination of faith and local tradition. As a UNESCO cultural hub, Ohrid’s identity is entwined with such ancient Christian customs. The ceremony is followed by community festivities, linking religion and cultural celebration.
This is a sacred ceremony. Dress modestly for church services, and behave respectfully at the lake. Follow the crowd’s lead and do not jump into the water unless part of the ritual.
