On the first morning after Ramadan, the people of Sarajevo fill the mosques for the Eid al-Fitr prayer, led at the grand Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque in the old town. After a month of fasting, the day opens into visits, sweets, and family gatherings, in a celebration close to the heart of Bosniak identity.

Ramazanski bajram reflects Bosnian Muslim cultural values of hospitality, charity, and remembrance of ancestors. It underscores Bosniak identity and communal bonds, as families and neighbors come together to celebrate after the fasting of Ramadan.
Modest dress (cover shoulders and knees, women cover heads in mosques), remove shoes before entering mosques, observe quiet and respectful behavior during prayer and at cemeteries.
