Eid al-Adha is one of two major Islamic holidays. In secular Albania, it is celebrated by the Muslim majority (Sunni and Bektashi) alongside Christians. It is called "Kurban Bajram" in Albanian, reflecting its Ottoman-era name. It is deeply woven into Albanian Muslim life; after years of religious suppression, the holiday now features public prayers and communal meals.
Modest dress is required. The sacrifice ceremony is solemn; visitors should not interrupt or handle the animals. One should accept food offerings politely.
Attendance can be appropriate while active documentation is not. Let local boundaries define your role.
