Each Shrovetide, the city of Ljubljana parades its carnival figures for the Dragon Carnival. Kurenti, laufarji, and other figures from Slovenian folklore wind through the old town on the Saturday before Lent, in a celebration rooted in pre-Christian spring rituals.
