Liechtenstein has a predominantly Catholic culture (about 80% of Balzers residents). Corpus Christi is one of the high religious feast days of the liturgical year, and processions are traditional expressions of faith in rural communities. The Balzers procession reflects the local heritage of popular piety (Volkskultur) shaped by church practices such as rosary and saint devotion.
