Mykolaiv has long been home to many ethnic groups (Ukrainians, Greeks, Germans, etc.). The festival was organized by local cultural NGOs under a community-strongening project, aiming to preserve and share minority traditions during wartime displacement. It addresses loss of cultural continuity by uniting remnant communities. The theme bridges Ukrainian and minority winter customs, reflecting the Cold of Dnipro resiliency.
