The story behind it
This fair revives a centuries-old country-market tradition held on St. Michael’s Day in Venaco: it was re-established in 1996 by locals on the first weekend of May to coincide with the peak of Corsican cheese production. It is organized by a Corsican dairy association to valorize shepherding (pastoralism) and local cheese-making know-how.
