This market stems from Melilla’s historical memory of the 1497-1500 campaign under Charles V. It celebrates local heritage and educates the community about the city’s role during the Renaissance. Melillenses attend in costume and children participate in interactive workshops. It’s mainly a cultural event for locals (and nearby visitors), reflecting pride in Melilla’s imperial history rather than a tourist spectacle.
