Ceremony of the Keys

Twice a year, Casemates Square in Gibraltar reenacts the old locking of the city's gates with the Ceremony of the Keys. Costumed soldiers stage the ritual that dates from the Great Siege of 1779, in a celebration revived in 1933 that honors Gibraltar's fortress past.
