Catenacciu Procession

Processione di u Catenacciu

Sartène, France

Apr 3, 2026ConfirmedSource

Each Good Friday, the Corsican town of Sartène holds the solemn Catenacciu, a Holy Week procession of deep penitence. A hooded, barefoot penitent drags a heavy cross and chains through the dark streets, reenacting Christ's road to Calvary, in one of the most moving and ancient rituals in all of Corsica.
