The story behind it
Founded in 1995 by immigrant communities in Berlin, the Karneval der Kulturen was created to promote intercultural understanding. Organized by the Werkstatt der Kulturen, it showcases Berlin’s immigrant heritage and arts. Each year on Pentecost (Pfingsten), groups from around the world perform and parade.
