Each spring, the city of Murcia ends its festival season with the Burial of the Sardine, a wild night-time parade of glowing floats, costumes, and fire. It closes with a giant sardine going up in flames and fireworks lighting the sky, in an old custom that burns away winter to welcome the spring.
