Международен фолклорен фестивал в Бургас

Burgas, Bulgaria

Aug 1 - 5, 2026ExpectedSource

Each summer, the seaside city of Burgas hosts Bulgaria's oldest folklore festival, gathering folk ensembles from around the world. They parade through the streets and perform at the open-air theatre in the leafy Sea Garden, filling five days with the songs, dances, and costumes of many lands.

Romantic nationalism & folk revival

The festival originated in Bulgaria's state-sponsored folk revival movement: founder Philip Kutev created the first professional state folk ensemble in 1951, and the festival's motto explicitly frames heritage preservation in folk-revival terms.
