Each September, the Spanish town of Elche de la Sierra, known as the cradle of the running of the bulls, fills its streets with daily encierros. Each morning, young bulls are released to be chased back to the corral as runners dash before them, in fiestas honoring the town's patron saints with breathless tradition.

Spectators stand behind barriers on Calle de las Peñas to watch. Outsiders should keep a safe distance; wearing white clothing and bandana (as tradition) is common. Flash photography and sudden movements are discouraged for safety.
