Every two years, the grand old square at the heart of Brussels disappears under a giant carpet of flowers, hundreds of thousands of bright begonias laid out by hand in a fresh design each time. It only lasts a few days, so the whole city comes out to see it before the petals fade.
FestivalAtlas keeps this celebration available for timing and respectful planning without inviting public footage.
How we decideThe Flower Carpet was created in 1971, within the era of European integration and Expo 58 modernity (1958–1989), reflecting the post-war horticultural revival and Brussels' emerging international role.
