Originating from Ireland’s ancient Imbolc festival, St Brigid’s Day (Feb. 1) was long associated with a pagan goddess of fire, fertility and poetry, later Christianized into the abbess Saint Brigid of Kildare. This festival celebrates those intertwined traditions in Brigid’s home region, emphasizing her values of creativity, hospitality and community.
Respect Brigid’s significance as sacred heritage; be mindful at religious sites (St Brigid’s Cathedral) and Gaelic cultural events
