Each Easter, the Asturian city of Avilés gathers in its old center to share the bollo, a sweet Easter bread, at long communal tables. Parades with floats and music fill the streets, building to a grand feast on Easter Monday, in a celebration born in the late 1800s to mark the end of Lent and the coming of spring.
