Blessing of the Sheep

Ευλογία των Προβάτων στην Ασή Γωνιά

Asi Gonia, Greece

May 9, 2027ExpectedSource

Each year around the feast of Saint George, the shepherds of Asi Gonia drive all their flocks into the Cretan village for a special blessing. Sheep crowd the lane by the little church of Agios Georgios as the priest blesses them and fresh milk is shared with all, in a moving tribute to the pastoral life of the mountains.
