Biikebrennen
Feb 21, 2027Confirmed
Every February 21, the North Frisian coast of Schleswig-Holstein lights up with great bonfires for Biikebrennen, an old festival welcoming spring. From Husum to the islands, blazing fires drive out winter as communities gather in the cold dark, in a tradition that has long stood as a proud emblem of Frisian identity.
The Biike Burning (Spring Bonfire) record is date-tracked, but stronger reviewed Field Guide media would make it easier to inspect.

The festival is an expression of Frisian heritage. In the 19th century it also became a symbol of regional identity under Danish rule. Today it is in Germany’s national heritage register (immaterielles Kulturerbe) and remains one of the first big local events each year.
