Each November 6, the Bavarian spa town of Bad Tölz honors Saint Leonhard, patron of farmers and animals, with a great horse pilgrimage. Hundreds of riders in historical dress drive flower-decked carriages and horses up to the saint's chapel, in a centuries-old blessing of the beasts that draws thousands to line the streets.
