Each September, the Allgäu town of Bad Hindelang holds the Ostrachtal's largest cattle drive, known locally as d'r Schaid. Around a thousand cows return from five mountain pastures, the lead animals crowned with flowers, in a joyful homecoming that marks the end of the high summer grazing season.
