Alpine Cattle Descent

La Désalpe

Semsales, Switzerland

Oct 3, 2026Expected

Each autumn, the Swiss village of Semsales celebrates the Désalpe, the day its cattle come down from the summer mountain pastures. The main street fills with bell-ringing cows, alpine horns, and crowds, in a centuries-old farming tradition that brings this French-speaking corner of Gruyère together.
