Originating in 1802 to venerate Nuestra Señora de Belén, Almansa’s festival blends religious procession with rural customs. Historically, it evolved from humble village rituals (bell ringing, agricultural games and folk dances) into a larger communal fiesta. In 1925 the Virgin was coronated, after which grand processions and illuminated street-decorating contests became standard.
