Each September, history comes alive in the Crimean countryside near Bakhchisaray as costumed armies recreate the Battle of Alma, a fierce clash of the 1854 Crimean War. Soldiers in period uniform march and fire across the fields where Russian and Allied forces once met, in a vivid open-air act of remembrance.
