The story behind it
Ajvatovica has long been a symbol of Bosnian spirituality and multi-faith heritage. It preserves older spring-fertility rituals alongside Islamic tradition: the central shrine is a spring opened by the 15th-century saint Ajvaz-Dedo, celebrated by pilgrims every summer.
