The Armata Festival (Φεστιβάλ Άρματος Σπετσών) is Spetses island’s flagship annual celebration, held every early September to commemorate its 1822 naval victory over the Ottoman fleet. A week of cultural and religious events culminates on the second Saturday of September with the dramatic burning of a model Ottoman flagship in the harbor, accompanied by fireworks 1. It is a core part of Spetses local identity.

Honors the heroism of local naval fighters (led by Miaoulis) during the Greek War of Independence. The fire and fireworks symbolize liberation and are deeply rooted in local tradition.
