Horta
Founded by Flemish nobleman Josse van Huerter in 1467 (the city's name may derive from his Flemish name), Horta later became a whaling port, transatlantic telegraph hub (1893–1969), and now the legislative capital with a marina whose walls are covered in sailor paintings. Peter's Cafe Sport houses the island's scrimshaw museum. Horta bridges the Flemish settlement era and the 20th-century whaling/emigration era.
