Besalma Village
Founded in 1791, Besalma is the village most dedicated to preserving Gagauz traditions and cultural identity. The Kara-Cioban Museum of History and Ethnography (founded 1966, 15,000+ exhibits) is the first and most important ethnographic museum in Gagauzia. Village elders here preserve the Hederlez-Kasım binary calendar logic and household rites—festive tables, pruning customs—not fully captured by institutional calendars.
