The 'Zhovten u Zhovtni' (October in October) festival is an annual 10-day cultural program held each late October in Zhytomyr, centered around the historic Zhovten movie theater. A key modern art event in the city, it features conferences on cultural identity, film screenings, performances, and exhibitions. It marks a transformation of a Soviet-era cinema into a contemporary cultural hub.
Zhytomyr has used the redevelopment of the old Zhovten cinema as a catalyst for creative events.
