Танець роду is a choreographic festival held at the Ethnographic Museum in Krylosa (near Halych) celebrating traditional folk dance from Prykarpattia. First held on 8 June 2025, it brought together youth ensembles from around the region, featuring dances of Boykos, Lemkos, Opillya, Hutsuls and Pokuttya 1 2. The festival aimed to popularize cultural heritage through dance performance. Attendees experience a parade of dance groups, children’s folk dances, the lighting of a ceremonial bonfire, and the closing awards ceremony with certificates acknowledging contributions to preserving folk choreography 3 4.
The festival is organized by the National Reserve “Ancient Halych” as a way to revive and promote local intangible heritage of folk dance. It takes place at historic sites of Galician ethnography, underscoring the deep roots of dance in Ukrainian village culture 1 2.
