Chernivtsi’s annual Christmas caroling festival"Колядують Чернівці"brings together local folk ensembles to perform ancient Bukovynian carols in the city’s Central Square. Now in its 4th year, the event showcases centuries-old regional melodies and costumes, reviving archaic carols and raising funds to support the Ukrainian forces 1. The festival highlights Bukovina’s mixed heritage of Ukrainian and Romanian Christmas traditions and helps transmit love for “kolyada” (carols) across generations.
In Bukovina, as across Ukraine, Christmas celebrations are rich with caroling, Malanka (New Year) rituals, and folk dramas. This festival continues that heritage by reviving traditional carols and winter rituals that span local cultural identities 1 2.
