Trnavská brána is an annual folklore festival in Trnava celebrating Slovak traditional dance, music and crafts. Held in mid-June, it features dozens of folk ensembles performing in the streets and squares of Trnava, along with handicraft stalls (e.g. gingerbread, basket weaving) and an evening closing concert. Locals and international participants don folk costume, filling the city with lively folk music and color 1. The festival emphasizes community identity and continuity of folk heritage in the region.
The festival was established in the early 2000s (24th edition in 2025) to promote Slovak folklore and local traditions. Its name means "Trnava Gate," reflecting the opening of the city to folk culture. Supported by the city and cultural organizations, it has become one of the major folklore events in western Slovakia 1.
