Catherine’s Fair (*Katarinini sejem*) is a traditional annual fair held on Saint Catherine’s Day (November 25) in Lendava. It is a festive market event where local farmers and artisans sell seasonal produce, handicrafts, homemade wines, honey, and traditional foods. The fair marks the end of the harvest season and has roots in rural Prekmurje customs. It often includes cultural programs and religious blessings.
Linked to the feast day of St. Catherine, the fair is part of a broader Slovenian tradition of winter fairs (e.g. Martin’s and Catherine’s fairs). In Prekmurje, it celebrates local produce and prepares the community for the approaching Christmas period. Historically, it was a crucial market day for farmers.
