Koroški turistični teden is the largest and one of the oldest annual summer festivals in the Koroška region 1. Spanning about ten days in early August, it features a rich program of folk music, dance, sports, culinary events, and community gatherings that highlight local traditions and hospitality 1. Organized by the town of Črna na Koroškem and the local tourist society, it attracts families and performers from across Carinthia. Each edition culminates in a major folk event (often called "Na gaudi se dobimo") featuring multiple folklore groups from across Slovenia 2. The festival is deeply rooted in Koroška’s identity: it connects generation to generation, promotes regional culture, and would persist as a community tradition even without outside visitors.
Started nearly seven decades ago, Koroški turistični teden was intended to showcase the culture, history and community of Slovenian Carinthia during the summer. The program includes everything from traditional folk dances and concerts to local food fairs and sports contests, offering insight into everyday life and heritage of the region 1. It is a community-focused celebration of local culture and the region’s hospitality. Over time it has become a symbol of Črna na Koroškem’s cultural life, reflecting pride in regional customs while also embracing contemporary cultural exchange.
