Eskilstuna Kulturnatt is an annual fall festival inaugurated in 2023 to unite all of Eskilstuna’s cultural activities in one evening. Organized by the city and local cultural groups, it offers dozens of events – concerts, theatre, dance, art exhibitions, children’s programs, workshops – across 20+ venues around the city 1. All events are open to the public for free. The festival culminates in a vibrant final performance (circus, dance and fire arts) at Hamnparken, showcasing the city’s creative spirit 2.
Eskilstuna is known as a historic industrial town, and Kulturnatten reflects its modern cultural renaissance. The festival is timed to coincide with twilight nights, literally lighting up the city (‘as a light in the autumn darkness’, official description) 1. It also coincided with the city’s 50th anniversary (Eskilstuna was granted city status in 2023) to celebrate local heritage through culture.
